Tottenham Hotspur defender Destiny Udogie has been identified as the Premier League player allegedly threatened at gunpoint by an agent in north London.
The incident reportedly took place on 6 September in Cockfosters, Barnet, while Udogie was out with a friend. Police say the suspect, a 31-year-old man, brandished a firearm “with intent to cause fear of violence” and allegedly blackmailed Udogie’s companion. The man was arrested two days later and released on bail as inquiries continue.
The incident occurred during the international break, when Udogie was not with the Italian national team. He returned to action for Spurs in their 13 September win at West Ham and started in the Champions League match against Copenhagen this week.
A club spokesperson said: “We have been providing support for Destiny and his family since the incident and will continue to do so. Given this is a legal matter, we cannot comment any further.”
Police confirmed no one was injured, and there is no suggestion the agent involved represents Udogie.
