Juventus have dismissed head coach Igor Tudor following an eight-match winless streak across all competitions, the club announced on Monday.
“Juventus FC announces that it has today relieved Igor Tudor of his duties as coach of the men’s first team, along with his staff,” read the official statement, released a day after Juve’s 1-0 defeat to Lazio.
Reserve team coach Massimo Brambilla will take charge on an interim basis as the club searches for a permanent replacement.
Tudor, appointed in March to replace Thiago Motta, was Juve’s first foreign manager since Didier Deschamps in 2006-07. A former Bianconeri defender, he made over 150 appearances for the club and helped them win two Serie A titles.
Although he guided Juventus to a fourth-place finish and Champions League qualification last season, the team’s form collapsed this term. After opening with three straight wins, Juve drew five consecutive matches before losing to Como, Real Madrid, and Lazio in quick succession.
Following Sunday’s defeat, Tudor said: “We prepared well, but we’re still missing something. There’s no need to dramatise — we’re all responsible for this period.”
It marks Juventus’s earliest managerial change in a season since 1969, when Luis Carniglia was replaced by Ercole Rabitti.
The Turin club, who have failed to score in their last four matches, sit eighth in Serie A, six points behind leaders Napoli, and will host Udinese on Wednesday.
