London Sees Large-Scale Demonstrations
On September 17, 2025, crowds filled central London to protest U.S. President Donald Trump’s second state visit to the United Kingdom. The Stop Trump Coalition organized the marches, drawing environmental campaigners, anti-racism advocates, and pro-Palestinian activists. Demonstrators moved from Portland Place to Parliament Square, carrying signs, chanting, and voicing opposition to Trump’s policies. Police were present throughout to maintain order, and the protest remained largely peaceful.
Windsor Protests Lead to Arrests
In Windsor, where Trump was received with royal ceremonies by King Charles III, smaller protests also took place. Activists projected images linking Trump to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein onto the walls of Windsor Castle, resulting in four arrests for malicious communications. Two additional individuals were detained for other protest-related incidents, highlighting tensions surrounding the royal welcome.
Divided Public Opinion
The UK public remains split on Trump’s visit. A YouGov poll indicated that 45% of Britons opposed the invitation, while 30% supported it. Critics argue that hosting Trump undermines democratic values and human rights, while supporters view the visit as a chance to strengthen diplomatic ties between the UK and the United States. The protests reflect widespread debate over the implications of Trump’s policies both domestically and internationally.
