aA drone launched from Yemen struck Eilat, wounding at least 22 people, local medics reported Wednesday.
The Israeli military confirmed the drone “fell in the area of Eilat” after defences failed to intercept it.
Authorities urged residents to follow Home Front Command instructions and avoid the site of impact.
Explosive Risk Prompts Public Warning
Police in Eilat said bomb disposal experts examined the drone debris for explosives.
Officials warned residents to stay away and not touch fragments at the crash location.
Magen David Adom said two victims suffered serious injuries, while others sustained minor wounds.
Regional Tensions and Retaliation Escalate
Iran-backed Houthis have repeatedly fired drones and missiles at Israel in solidarity with Palestinians.
Since November 2023, they have also attacked Red Sea shipping routes, forcing major carriers to reroute.
Israel and the US responded with strikes on Houthi sites, killing leaders, including Yemen’s Prime Minister Ahmed al-Rahawi.
